Why I Got Started
I was fat basically all my life. Every time I would gain weight I would say "220 lbs isn't bad, football players weigh that much", even then when I hit 250 lbs I thought "pro wrestlers weigh about the same". Once I got to 280 lbs I realized it was beyond crazy for a 17 year old to be that huge.

Basically I was in denial for a long time. So in May of 2007 my brother Joe Lampe (Njjoe) let me know that if I wanted to I could come and get his weight bench since he was moving to an apartment complex with a gym. So I got me and my buddy to drive to his place and pick it up.

How I Did It
My brother helped me out a lot. He has basically walked me through the whole process and had my back the whole time and was my motivation behind a lot of this. He set me up on a basic program doing sets of 5 for each compound exercise shooting for 8-12 reps each time, and then doing about 3 sets for the other muscles involved.

My diet was extreme at first, basically eating eggs and wheat toast for breakfast, eating a lot of tuna for lunch, and whatever for dinner just half of what I normally would. Since then everything has changed with my lifting and dieting. I'm currently doing the 5x5 program and loving it.

Suggestions For Others
Honestly anyone that wants to get into weight lifting or bodybuilding I completely support. It changed my life. I use to be a video gaming fat kid. Now I'm looking forward to years of bodybuilding and trying to get into a fitness career. Losing weight is basically all determination and most of the battle is mental.

If you're on a program give it time before jumping off it. Don't buy into these fast fad diets, it needs to be a life style change. I took me 11 months to drop from 280 lbs to 190 lbs and I would do it all over again if I had to. If you have any more questions for me feel free to ask through my email or BodySpace.
