I got sick of being the chubby girl, my self-esteem was down a lot. All of my friends were better looking than me and I was very unhealthy. I would get so embarrassed when I went into a store and tried to buy a pair of jeans and none of them would fit. I would lie to the person who worked there and say I wasn't going to buy them because they were "too big." I kept getting bigger and bigger. In half a year I went from a size 7 to a size 13. I knew I was big but I didn't realize just how big I had really gotten until I saw pictures from my brother's birthday party. It made me sick to see myself like that.
I didn't see how bad it had really gotten looking in the mirror, but the pictures don't lie. I knew if I didn't do something about it fast, it would get really bad.
First I cut out all fast food, I was eating McDonalds's at least twice a day, and sometimes I would have 2 breakfast biscuits before class. I had no idea how many calories, carbs and how much fat all that stuff had in it. I started going to their websites and looking at their nutrition guides, that alone was enough to stop me from going to those places. Once I stopped eating fast food so much and cutting down on snacking I lost 10 lbs fast. After I discovered that I could actually lose weight, I begged my parents for a gym membership. As luck would have it, my 19th birthday was in a couple days and that's what they got me.
It was the best present I think anybody has ever given me. It was like saying "Happy Birthday, here is a new life." I started going at least five days a week. Combining the way I learned to eat (6 small meals or "snacks" a day every 3 hours) and going to the gym worked awesome. Eventually I ended up losing 50 lbs. I gained muscle and a lot of definition.

If you want something bad enough don't give up, it's possible to have the body you have always dreamed of! Write your goals down along with everything you eat and what you do at the gym. It really helps with keeping up with everything, and when you reach a goal it's nice to look back and see how you got there. Surround yourself with a team of supporters and ask for help, no question is a dumb question. When you want to eat something that will hurt your diet ask yourself if you like the taste of food for five minutes or a great body and longer life better, that always helps me.
I was the girl who never dressed out in gym class because I was too lazy, now I'm in college for nutrition and planning on owning my own gym. It is true what they say, hard work really does pay off, and nothing is impossible! Teen Transformation Of The Week Recommend this article to a friend by e-mail here!
