How Did You Get Started?

Well, thanks to my fitness-orientated mom, I started lifting weights and going to the gym in middle school. I am so grateful to have started fitness at a young age and would encourage other girls to do the same. Ever since then I have become an avid runner and have been competing in track and cross country.

About 8 months ago, I started working with my trainer, Curtis Mcgee, who has really helped me bring my running, weight training, and physique to a new level. My trainer is really pushing me to levels I never thought possible.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

As a runner and weightlifter, I have to find a balance with my workouts. Usually, I run about six times a week. I vary my running workouts between endurance runs, VO2 Max workouts (usually sprint workouts such as repeat 400m), anaerobic threshold runs (like repeat 1600m at a moderate pace with 3 minutes rest), and slow, recovery runs.

I also lift weights about three or four times a week. One day a week, I do a full body workout with my trainer which includes: 20 mins of cardio, lots of lunges, leg extensions, bicep curls, pushups, pull ups, bench press, crunches, hip ab/aductors; a total body workout.

On days by myself in the gym, I usually focus on one body part like legs, arms, shoulders, back, and chest. I also do ab workouts 3-4 times a week.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

My diet is usually high-protein, low carbohydrate. However, during running seasons, I usually increase my carbohydrate intake. I am a firm believer in small meals about every 3-4 hours. I never eat large amounts at once. The staples of my diet include egg whites, chicken, turkey, fish, fruits, vegetables, almonds, and low-fat dairy.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Before lifting weights, I usually mix Cellmass, and NO-Xplode. They give me great energy and taste awesome too! I also love American whey protein powder because it tastes so good!

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because I love feeling great about myself after hard workouts. The endorphin high I get from fitness really keeps me energized and feeling great. The best part about bodybuilding is seeing results and getting compliments. Also, bodybuilding has helped me to become a stronger runner.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

As far as bodybuilding, I want to start competing in figure competitions within the next year. Another goal of mine, is to break into fitness modeling. I am striving to be a cover girl on a fitness magazine. Another one of my goals is to be a state champion in the 800m and receive a track scholarship.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

I think the most important part of bodybuilding is your mentality. It's so important to have your mind set before a workout. You have to believe you can finish those last few reps, you have to envision it.

When you walk in the gym, leave all your emotional baggage behind. You have to dedicate that time in the gym to only yourself. You have to focus on your workout and leave all your stress outside. Otherwise you are simply wasting your time.
