How Did You Get Started?
First, I want to say how much I appreciate BodyBuilding.com, You're the BEST!
Well, last year I took Weightlifting 1 when I was a sophomore and my good friend Dustin Strupp and I worked out hard because we both played football. I started getting a little stronger but didn't get into it as much as I am now. Then our school started a Powerlifting Team and I signed up. I got a little bigger and stronger. A month or so passed and Spring Football Practice commenced. Halfway through the week, I received a concussion. My mom said, "No More Football For You." I argued of course (I had been getting a lot of game time in varsity games the previous year) but I did not win the battle.
So suddenly I had so much time on my hands, I didn't know what to do. I knew that I had to do something or else I would go crazy. Weightlifting seemed like the perfect thing to take up. I started lifting again and saw incredible results. I changed my workout around, thanks to Jared Laffoon (one of my good workout buddies) and I've stuck with the same one since, but I will explain that in greater detail shortly. I got a lot of pointers and tips from Bill Powell (The biggest guy around.) Bill convinced me to get my body fat measured. It was 15%. I then asked him how much he weighed and he only weighed ten more pounds than me! (he is taller and possesses greater muscle mass) I then knew that it was time to work on my body fat.
Over the course of the next month and a half, I lost about 20 lbs. of fat and now my body fat is right around 10%. I have researched and now know a lot about dieting efficiently. I have also kept a detailed journal of what I did everyday for the past five months which has proven to help tremendously!
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

- Tuesdays:
Biceps/Triceps/Run a couple miles
- Wednesdays:
Rest
- Thursdays:
Delts/Traps/Exercise Bike
- Fridays:
Quads/Hamstrings/Calves/Abs/Run a little
I have no special workout, just hard work. I usually do 3-5 exercises for each body part listed above, and 3 or 4 sets for each exercise with 10 reps in each. Another thing that has really helped me out is the use of Variety. Many people do not practice this and quickly become burnt out (both mentally and physically.) I usually do different variations to one exercise each workout.
Example: One time I may do bicep curls and the next time reverse curls or hammer curls.
I also do aerobic types of exercises to help in the process of burning more calories than I eat.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Well, I've tried Creatine, and Chromium Picolinate, but I couldn't tell what either did or what they were supposed to do. I also tried Taraxatone and was admitted to the hospital with potassium deficiency (the worst sick I've ever been) a couple of weeks later. Ever since that, I have been very careful about what goes into my body. I've been taking Vitamins (C, A & D, E) ever since I was a baby.
Why Do You Love Bodybuilding?
Bodybuilding gives me really good self esteem (something that I have not always had.) It is a sure way to actually see someone's work ethic. No pain, no gain; I believe it. It also makes me feel good when people in the gym ask me if I will sell them some of my steroids (I've never even seen them, let alone taken them.) It also does good with the ladies!
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
To continue lifting and maybe even enter some contests. I have also thought about being a personal trainer (I've been working with Mason Vaughn and Claude Badgett.)
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
VARIETY. This is very important and will make your workout enjoyable.
