How Did You Get Started?

I began bodybuilding with my mother, a bodybuilder herself, in order to recover from a shoulder injury I suffered my junior year of high school football. At that time I was 6' 1" 145 lbs. She put me on a simple three day a week program. I was hooked after the results started to show. I worked out in our home basement for about three months before joining Gold's Gym of Charlottesville. The trainers at the gym recognized my motivation and knew my mother well, so I received a lot of positive feedback. The positive feedback and free personal training sessions I received there gave me the drive to reach my full genetic potential.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I've experimented with many different workout plans in the past three years. I find that it is necessary to change your workout plan every four months or whenever you plateau on the particular program you're utilizing. The first program I started was:

However, if I had to pick one workout plan to do for the rest of my life it would be:

    Monday - Chest
    Tuesday - Back
    Wednesday - Off
    Thursday - Shoulders
    Friday - Bi's, Tri's
    Saturday - Legs
    Sunday - Off

Isolating one body part at a time really helps me focus on the task at hand. This is the type of workout plan that I am utilizing now and it has helped me a great deal. I like to incorporate different combinations of supersets every time I work each body part in order to shock the muscle every week.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

Because I am naturally a very lean body type, my nutrition used to consist of a see-food diet; when I would see food, I would eat it. However since I have been enrolled at the Virginia Military Institute and good food has been available to me throughout the day I have been able to eat good high protein food on a consistent basis.

I try to consume at least 20 grams of protein every hour and a half or so. When I don't have time for a meal I supplement with a 22g protein shake. Honestly I have never limited my fat or carb intake. Do to my high intensity workouts and cardiovascular work staying lean has never been a problem. I am a firm believer that you must listen to your body - i.e. if you're craving a banana, your probably operating on low potassium levels. Your body knows what foods contain the nutrients it needs.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I've experimented with a number of different supplements. If I had to choose one that has helped me the most it would be NO-Xplode. It supplements my nitric oxide levels, gives me added pre-workout motivation, and helps me obtain a pump in no time at all.

Why Do You Love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because you carry your success with you everywhere. A football, baseball, or basketball player is only recognized as a winner when people are watching them on the field or court of play. Where as bodybuilders carry that success with them everywhere. They are noticed. They are admired. When a successful bodybuilder walks in a room of average people he or she is instantly recognized as someone of distinguished physique.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I plan to compete in a bodybuilding show in February before I turn 20 so I can at least compete once as a teen. Win or lose, I am going to continue growing, advancing and pressing my limits. I plan to compete again this upcoming summer.
