Our Teen Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Justin Lillywhite
How Did You Get Started?
I was always the fat kid, which made me really depressed and depleted my self-esteem. I first started lifting to release anger by throwing around weights. I hated everything, especially myself. With help of some really good role models, they put me on my path; I would like to thank my big brother Jon for always taking me to the weight room. Also I would like to mention Romero, Villasenor, Corey, Beth and pretty much all of Aztec High School for their support. I really appreciate "Complete Physique" (which is the best gym in the Four Corners area!) But most of all, I give all my thanks to God, without his grace I am nothing.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You? I'm still really young so I have a lot of learning to do; I experiment with everything I can. Mostly I train by how I feel that moment. I try to feel a connection however I can get it. What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You? I'm still experimenting but right now it's 7 meals a day. 200-250 grams of protein and I'm learning how to cycle my carbs so they vary. Fats are essential but I want to stay around 8-9% body fat, so I cheat sparingly. What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
I experiment a lot with supplements, but I think I gain when I just really pound the nutrition. But for supplements: glutamine, multi vitamin, creatine, and BCAA's.
Why do you love Bodybuilding? It gives me a chance to do something beautiful with myself. The reason I am going to stand on stage and the reason I go the gym is for God, to show everyone what beauty he can create. I don't mean to sound vain, but the human body is what is so amazing and beautiful. I'm also sorry that beauty is the main adjective I use. It's the only one that comes remotely close to my emotions about this. What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? I plan to take it one rep at a time. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Even though it's cool to be a "big guy" that is not a reason to be a jerk. It's still important to be polite and gentle with people you encounter. I think one of the most important things is to encourage people who are in the gym next to you. This is especially important if they are overweight, or have no idea what they're doing. Offer to spot them and remember a lot of people look up to you. The best pose I like is one with a smile!
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? The ones I really admire are: Sonja from Gallup NM--he is just a great example of a young hungry bodybuilder. And two recent favorites are some previous teens of the week, Danilo Recinos because he has an awesome body and I like the ways he answered questions. Second is 15 yr old Matt Knoff. That kid is insane! He's only 15? He's going to tear his competition apart.
