![]() By: James Sadek The other day when I was sitting down thinking about what I can put together for teenbodybuilding.com, I thought to my self, I don't really know the other guys on this site, so I developed a series of questions for the 4 top teen bodybuilders on teen bodybuilding.com. I have asked questions to BIG RED, DEREK, MIKE THE SPIKE and MYSELF (LOCKE was too busy). The questions and there answers are posted below in what I believe to be a pretty decent way to somehow get to know these guys a little better in regards to there bodybuilding.

I started messing around with weights in my basement when I was around 13. Around 15 I joined a gym and started lifting for football. My routine sucked, I benched and did abs every day. Kind of like when we all first start out. It wasn't until I turned 18 that I started actually bodybuilding, and training. Any type of science or even rationale theory. I'm 20 and 6 months now.
When I'm home in Connecticut I workout at the local gym about a mile down the road from me called Flex. At school in Rhode Island I workout at the university gym. I can't stand working out at home, how are you supposed to train w. the utmost intensity and reach eccentric failure when you don't have a spotter?
Cardio (in my best Arnold voice) "Vut is cahdio any vays?" Rarely. Every time I've dieted its been during the summer. For the past 3 summers I've worked manual labor. No need to do cardio when you're burning 4-5 thousand calories a day. When I'm bulking, the only cardio I do is for fun. Like Mountain biking, back yard football, or skiing.

Right now I'm bulking. I have a very fast metabolism so I eat what ever I can. Fats are very important to bulking, and many people hinder their gains by limiting them from their diet. I do just the opposite; fats (most of which are unsaturated) make up at least 40% of my daily calories. Usually its from olive oil and nuts. I try to take in about 1-1.5g of protein per pound of body weight and the rest is carbs. Do I eat junk food? Depends what you consider junk food. I love pizza and kfc though.
Protein powder and a multi vitamin.
Not for any teams. Everything I do is for myself. I like to Mountain bike, ski, and do practically anything else that is extreme. If it wasn't for the fact that my parents would kick me out if I got a dirt bike, I'd be the biggest guy on the motor-cross tour.
There's steroid use, and then there's steroid abuse. Today's pros are clearly abuse. How many of them are going to live over 45? How many can actually make it up the stairs without a respirator? It's disgusting. I think use is fine, if that's what you want out of life. Steroids are in nearly every sport: baseball, football, the Olympics, and people don't seem to realize that no matter how high tech the tests get, the users will always be a step ahead. The only times I think its wrong are if: A. You are lazy, have done no research and are trying to use them in place of hard work. B. You juice then enter a drug free contest. As for myself, I am very intrigued by them, and will try them someday.
My last 20 dollars?? Hmm..I would probably make 20 1-minute phone calls to everyone that has ever doubted me.
Wow, that was BIG RED. I have to give credit where credit is due, Big red looks awesome for only training for 3 years, and in his own home, I take my hat off to you!! Although he vows never to use steroids I bet when he gets out of his home gym and into a proper one he will make some good gains. Well done BIG RED.
Next up is DEREK, he recently just competed in his first bodybuilding show, check out his Pics at his website, but for now lets get into it.

I have been lifting for about 3, bodybuilding for 2. I was first inspired to lift after watching Rocky 4. That movie really motivated me.
I have been working out in my garage since I started. But starting Sept. 2nd, I'll be lifting at my college's gym. CAN'T WAIT!
Strongest muscle group would have to be back. Weakest chest. Favorite Exercises
Chest: Dips
When cutting I do cardio 3-4 times a week. Usually on a treadmill.
Mon: Legs
My diet was 300 grams of protein, 300 carbs, and about 50-60 grams of fat. Favorite Cheat meal: Taco Bell! Diet food: None
Whey, L-Glutamine, BCAA, Creatine, flax seed, and vitamins
I entered the Mr. Michigan comp last April.
IFBB ~ Lee Priest. Funny guy. Truly a monster. Never gets the placing he
deserves.
I am against steroids and will not ever use them.
Food.
Next up is Mike The Spike; lets see what he has to say. ![]()
I have currently been bodybuilding for 2 years. I became motivated through football. We would weight train all winter long. I starting seeing some results and instantly became hooked! I loved it so much that I quit football to body build all year round even though I could have played football in college.
I have worked out many places. When I began, I trained at the high school football complex; I soon thereafter purchased some equipment to use at home. I took a lifeguarding job at the local YMCA and they gave me a free membership so I worked out there. The past 2 months, I worked out in California at the Sierra Fitness Club and now that I am in college at UVSC (Utah Valley State College) I train at the world-renound Gold's Gym!
My strongest muscle group would have to be my legs, quads in particular. My weakest muscle group is my lats and my most underdeveloped is my calves (I can still dunk though at 5'10" 195lbs!!!) My favorite exercises would have to be biceps exercises, narrowing it down a bit, dumbbell curls.
My cardio training depends on if I am leaning down (for a competition) or not. While leaning down for a show, I may do 6 sessions of 300 calories each. During Mass-Building Season, I tend to do so 3 times a week. What is your current training split? Currently I train 5 days a week. My split is:
Triceps / Forearms / Biceps
My current diet consists of: 300+ grams of protein daily, 150 to 300 grams carbs daily, and minimal fat (some is definitely necessary). I do eat junk food sometimes. My favorite cheat meal is pizza or any other Italian food with cheese on it or a big bowl of cereal. My favorite diet food is MET-Rx Total Nutrition Protein Shakes. These are great! I like all of the flavors except for the coffee one and like to mix them up very thick and consume "as if" pudding.
Yes, I take creatine, amino acid tablets, and vitamins.
I do not currently play any other sports other than bodybuilding on a competitive level. I love basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, baseball and racquetball, I play these every chance I get and I surprise people with how flexible, agile and fast a muscle-boy can be! Yes, I have competed in five bodybuilding competitions. Plan on seeing me at the 2003 NPC Teen Nationals!!!
Franco Santoriello. You can visit his awesome website at: www.francosantoriello.com. I have worked with this guy in the weight room and he is awesome!!! Talk about serious training, I wish I could train with Franco everyday. I almost moved to Cincinnati to do so. Brent Smith also works with him and he is a great guy as well. Brent will be one of my favorite professional bodybuilders in a couple of years. Brent won the 2001 NPC Teen Nationals and recently competed in the Junior Nationals and has improved greatly!
Steroids are the way to go if all you want out of your life is a couple years of being swole. Life has much more meaning and joys than just this. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% committed to bodybuilding, but also find much joy in other activities as well. I love sports, singing, working on and driving cars, swimming, diving, reading, computers and being a strong member of my church.
Probably my wife if I had one ![]()
I started lifting when I was 16; I just stopped swimming and joined the gym next door to the pool. I have now been bodybuilding for 2 and half years.
I work out at a local gym close to my house, it's not vary big, I don't really get along with half the staff but I like it.
My strongest muscle group would have to be my chest, weakest would probably be back or triceps but there getting better.
I don't do cardio in winter, but when I am preparing for a show the last 8 weeks I do cardio on a treadmill everyday. After my comp I will maintain by doing it 2 to 3 times a week.
Current split is 3 days on 1 day off cycling 4 workouts. They are:
1 - Chest and shoulders
I'm not really sure what my ratios are, but I am having only about 120g of protein a day, not sure on carbs or fat. Favorite cheat meal is KFC and favorite diet food is my after workout shake.
NO
I compete in bodybuilding contests
What is your view on steroids and would you ever use them? Steroids, the million-dollar question. I don't have a problem with steroids as long as they are not abused and aren't substituted for effort. I would only use them if I decided I would attempt to turn pro, or tried everything and stopped growing then I would use but at the same time pick up my training by 100%.
KFC family meal with extra large chips instead of the coleslaw and then a game of Skins (a golf game from the arcade its awesome)
Well how did you all like that? I hope the right questions were asked and answered. I am going try and come up with different kinds of articles coming from different aspects of the bodybuilding world, I will hopefully try and have interview part 2 up in a couple of months. But any suggestions write to me at jamessadek@optusnet.com.au. Until Next Time, Recommend this article to a friend by e-mail here! Visitor Reviews Of This Article!

I'm actually pretty well proportionate. I'd say my best-looking muscle
group is probably my abs, and my strongest (if I can quit injuring myself
doing stupid stunts so I can train them) would be my legs. My legs grow very
easy; I do calves once a month and have some of the best calves on the teen
site.
Arnold. He did so much for the sport. He made it popular and brought it
prestige that today's chemistry experiments are slowly killing. He also had
that classic physique, he didn't look like a pregnant rhino *cough* Ronnie
Coleman *cough*. A close second would be between Mentzer and Yates (got to
stay true to my HIT background).

Lee Priest cause he is the freakiest bodybuilder, its just crazy the amount of size he can carry and still look good!!! Also I admire Shawn Rays Physique for his proportions and Marcus Ruhl for his freaky size. My Current pic of the moment is Tom Prince this guy is a monster he will go off next year.
