Why Are Your Cardio Sessions So Short?
I just started reading you articles on weeks 1 and 2 of the cutting phase. I have one question... why so little cardio? You total under an hour a week. Even with perfect nutrition, it seems to me that I need to do a lot of cardio to keep fat off. I do about 45 minutes 3 or 4 times a week usually. Just wondered what your strategy was, maybe I should change mine. I am trying to add on some muscle, but being that summer is coming I don't want to gain too much fat. That is why I do all the cardio (plus I drink a few beers a couple times a week).
That is a very good question. Whenever anyone thinks of cardio, they think of the long duration low to medium intensity. This is great if you are
training for endurance, but if losing fat is your goal, this is not the best route to take. Just like weight training sessions, cardio sessions should not be prolonged, but shorter and more intense. My 16-minute sessions are way more intense than any 45 minute session; making them more effective. There are already some great articles that explain this. I highly recommend that you read these:
