Will Lifting Weights Make Me Run Slower?
I am 18, male, weigh 124 lbs and 5'6". I want to weigh 140... Can you help me with this? I am trying to avoid lifting weights, but I can do a lot of push-ups. I want to be stronger/more toned in my upper body, and still be able to run well. Thanks!
It sounds to me that you have fallen victim to the old wive's tale that lifting weights makes you slow. Many top sprinters lift weights. Hockey players lift weights. Boxers lift weights. Athletes in all sports lift weights to improve their performance. You will not get slow from lifting weights. If anything, you will get faster.

You will not get much out of just doing push ups. If you would like to start lifting weights, let me know. You can follow the routines that I have given to other readers in my article section.
