Our Teen Bodybuilder of the Week was...
David Pat
How Did You Get Started? I got started after I wanted to be stronger for wrestling during high school. Working out really improved my performance in sports and helped me live a healthier lifestyle. Bodybuilding is definitely a lifestyle and one that improves your quality of life and inspires the lives of those around you. What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
Doing a 5x5 program
will help you jump in the amount of weight you can do.
Low reps and high weight is the recommended plan for
gaining freakish strength gains as it exposes you to
high intensity and large weights. What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You? 5 glasses of milk a day (always!!!), whole wheat products, lots of chicken, turkey, and lean beef, no trans-fat (degenerates muscle tissue), and no chips or fries. What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
Bodybuilding builds discipline. After committing to
a regular workout regime, everything else just seems
easier. Bringing your best to the gym day after day is
tiring and is the reason why a lot of people are
obese. Being a bodybuilder though means that you are
used to working at 110% all the time. It has helped
me deal with a lot of challenges in my life. It gives
you amazing confidence that nothing is impossible and
some mountains are scarier to look at than to climb.
Staring at 10 plates on a decline press machine makes
you really rethink your limits. What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? As of right now I am doing the Marines ROTC, which really encourages a fit lifestyle. I plan to use this opportunity to really rip up my body and push myself to new levels. Right now I am starting to enter teen shows and taking it one day at a time after that. My short-term goal is to get within the 5-6% body-fat range. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders? Eat right! All your hard work in the gym is a waste if you don't work in the kitchen. Put away all that fast food trash and learn to cook. Very few items you can buy in a restaurant are healthy. Stick to unprocessed foods and ones that aren't deep-fried. Nothing good can come from that bag of chips. Tuna and whole wheat bread is your best friend. Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler are obvious choices because of their massive physiques. I am stunned by how huge they are. Each time I see their picture I am motivated to work harder.
