Our Teen Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Andrew Taylor
How Did You Get Started? Well, I really had abs all my life, and was always small, and was very active as a child, so I already had a good foundation. When I was about 11, my Uncle Ramsey bout me this little cheap weight bench (I think it was only 50$) from K-mart, and it has only progressed form their! I started supplementing around 13, and working-out heavily and seriously since then. What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
Basically, I hit every machine and bench on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, working out every part of my body. I do BB curls every day, using the half rep system: 7 full curls, 7 from my legs to my abs and back down, and 7 from my chest to my abs and back up, and I do two sets of those. Also, I do 50 pushups every day. And I do 4 sets of 200 crunches every other night.
My workout plan has varied over the past couple of years A LOT. Basically I just mix it up and do what works best for me. What works best for me this month, may not cut it for next month.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains? I would have to say Creatine because I can gain about 15 pounds in two weeks from creatine, but when I off-cycle I lose about 10 of those pounds. The thing about creatine is I have experienced virtually NO side effects. If it wasn't for the "Roid-Rage," Impotence, and "Ball-Shrinking" I would say the Andro, but because of those side effects I am going to stay off for about 6 months to a year now. Why do you love Bodybuilding?
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? Maybe the NPC teen division. I don't really want to compete until I am 19, still a "teenager," but I think I will be in my prime around then. I want to see if I will hit another growth spurt before I begin supplementing heavy again. I can't compete in any of the "Natural" competitions because I used "banned" substances, and within the past 6 months! So my options are kind of limited RIGHT now. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Since this is a "teen" site, I will address this to teens. I am going to say STAY AWAY FROM ANDRO. I don't really think teens need to be supplementing anything but protein until they are AT LEAST 16. I made the mistake and may look great, but at the cost of what? My doctor says I will probably have a heart attack by the time I am 40. And if I really do, I will look back and say, was it worth it to start supplementing 5 years early? Don't be put in the position to ask yourself the same question.
But on a positive outlook, when you're in the gym and people are looking at you, pay NO attention to them. In the gym, it is only you against yourself, remember that. And weight lifting belts help in the long run. And make sure you have a good mattress wit good back support. You back is VERY important. Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? To be completely honest, I do not really have a favorite. Lee Priest popped into my mind when asked this question, though! If I had to pick, I would probably say my Uncle Ramsey, he doesn't compete anymore, he is kind of retired, and was never really "famous" but he is the reason I lift now.
